MR MATTRESS SA – IN-STORE CREDIT PROGRAMME
Terms & Conditions
1. What is the In-Store Credit Programme?
1.1 Mr Mattress Retail (Pty) Ltd (“Mr Mattress SA”, “we”, “us”, “our”) offers customers the opportunity to build up an In-Store Credit Balance by making deposits over time. Once your balance reaches the required threshold, you may use it to purchase any product available in any of our stores.
1.2 This is a prepaid customer deposit programme. It is not a credit agreement as defined in the National Credit Act 34 of 2005. We do not extend credit to you. You deposit money with us; we hold it as store credit on your behalf until you are ready to buy.
1.3 These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) form a binding agreement between you (“the Customer”) and Mr Mattress SA from the moment you enrol.
2. Eligibility
2.1 To participate, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Be a South African resident with a valid South African ID or passport;
- Provide a valid mobile number and email address; and
- Complete an Enrolment Form at any Mr Mattress SA store or via our authorised online registration.
2.2 Mr Mattress SA reserves the right to decline any application at its sole discretion.
3. Your In-Store Credit Account
3.1 Upon approval, you will be issued an In-Store Credit Account (“your Account”) linked to your ID number and contact details.
3.2 A minimum opening deposit of R10 is required to activate your Account.
3.3 Your Account balance:
- Is valid for use at any Mr Mattress SA store only;
- Has no cash value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for cash under any circumstances;
- Cannot be shared, transferred, or held jointly with another person; and
- Belongs exclusively to you as the registered Account holder.
3.4 Only one Account per customer is permitted.
4. Making Deposits
4.1 You may deposit any amount at any time. There is no minimum monthly payment, no fixed schedule, and no penalty for irregular or infrequent deposits.
4.2 Deposits may be made:
- In cash or by card at any Mr Mattress SA store;
- Via EFT to our designated bank account, using your Account number as the payment reference (proof of payment must be submitted to payments@mrmattress.co.za); or
- Via any additional payment channels we may introduce and communicate from time to time.
4.3 Deposits are credited to your Account within 1 (one) business day of confirmed receipt.
4.4 All deposits are final and non-refundable. Once credited to your Account, funds may only be applied toward a product purchase in accordance with Section 5 below. No cash withdrawal or cash refund will be issued under any circumstances.
4.5 By making a deposit, you confirm that you understand and accept the non-refundable nature of this programme.
5. Using Your Credit — Taking Your Product
5.1 You may use your Account balance to purchase any product available in any Mr Mattress SA store, at any time, once your balance meets the amount of the product.
5.3 Product prices are not locked. The price applicable on the day you collect your product applies. Prices may change between the date of your first deposit and the date of redemption.
5.4 If the product you select costs more than your Account balance, you may pay the difference using cash, card, or any accepted payment method at the time of purchase.
5.5 If the product you select costs less than your Account balance, the remaining credit stays in your Account and may be used toward future purchases.
5.6 If a product is on promotion at the time of your purchase, the promotional price applies and you benefit from the applicable discount.
5.7 Products are subject to availability. No specific stock is reserved for Account holders. We recommend confirming availability before visiting to redeem.
5.8 All products purchased under this Programme are subject to our standard Warranty and Returns Policy, available in store and at www.mrmattress.co.za in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
6. Checking Your Balance
6.1 You may check your Account balance at any time by:
- Visiting any Mr Mattress SA store with your ID; or
- Contacting us at payments@mrmattress.co.za or WhatsApp 0870871610.
6.2 Mr Mattress SA does not pay interest on balances held in your Account.
7. No Cash Refunds — Important Notice
7.1 Mr Mattress SA does not offer cash refunds on In-Store Credit Account balances. All deposits made into your Account are held exclusively as store credit.
7.2 Your credit balance may only be applied toward the purchase of products at any Mr Mattress SA store.
7.3 This no-refund policy applies regardless of the reason for non-use, including personal circumstances, change of preference, or relocation.
7.4 You are encouraged to carefully consider this before making any deposit. By depositing funds, you confirm that you understand and accept this policy.
7.5 Nothing in this clause limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 in respect of defective goods or services received — those rights remain fully intact.
8. Account Dormancy
8.1 Your Account is considered dormant if no deposit or purchase activity has occurred for 24 (twenty-four) consecutive months.
8.2 Upon classification as dormant, Mr Mattress SA will:
- Notify you via SMS and/or email to the contact details on record;
- Allow a 90-day reactivation window during which any deposit or qualifying activity will reactivate your Account; and
- If no activity occurs within the 90-day period, the Account may be closed and any remaining balance forfeited.
8.3 It remains your responsibility to keep your contact details current. Mr Mattress SA bears no liability for failure to deliver notifications to outdated or incorrect contact details.
8.4 You are encouraged to log a purchase or deposit at least once every 12 months to keep your Account active.
9. Store Closure or Relocation
9.1 In the event of a Mr Mattress SA store closing or relocating, your Account balance remains valid and redeemable at any other Mr Mattress SA store.
9.2 Mr Mattress SA will notify affected Account holders of any store closure with reasonable advance notice.
10. Changes to Your Contact Details
10.1 You must notify Mr Mattress SA of any changes to your name, ID number, mobile number, or email address immediately, either in person at any store or by emailing payments@mrmattress.co.za.
10.2 Mr Mattress SA is not responsible for any loss or Account disruption resulting from failure to update your details timeously.
11. Personal Information and POPIA Compliance
11.1 By enrolling, you consent to Mr Mattress SA collecting, storing, and processing your personal information for the purposes of opening and administering your Account; communicating balance updates, programme notices, and relevant promotions; and complying with applicable legal obligations.
11.2 Your personal information is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and our Privacy Policy, available at www.mrmattress.co.za.
11.3 You have the right to access, correct, or object to the processing of your personal information. Requests may be directed to our Information Officer at payments@mrmattress.co.za.
11.4 We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
12. Non-Transferability
12.1 Your Account and credit balance are strictly personal and non-transferable.
12.2 In the event of the death of an Account holder, the credit balance may be transferred to a nominated beneficiary or applied toward a qualifying purchase by the deceased’s estate, subject to submission of a certified copy of the death certificate and relevant estate documentation. An administrative fee may apply.
13. Fraudulent Activity
13.1 Mr Mattress SA reserves the right to freeze or close any Account immediately where fraudulent activity, misrepresentation, or abuse of the Programme is suspected.
13.2 Where fraud is confirmed, the balance may be forfeited and the matter referred to the relevant authorities.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 Mr Mattress SA’s liability in connection with this Programme is limited to the value of your Account balance at the time of any valid claim.
14.2 Mr Mattress SA is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss arising from participation in, or inability to participate in, the Programme.
14.3 Nothing in this clause excludes or limits any right you hold under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other applicable South African legislation.
15. Amendments to These T&Cs
15.1 Mr Mattress SA may amend these T&Cs at any time.
15.2 Material amendments will be communicated to active Account holders via SMS and/or email at least 30 days before taking effect.
15.3 The current version of these T&Cs is available at all times at www.mrmattress.co.za and at any Mr Mattress SA store.
15.4 Your continued use of your Account after the effective date of any amendment constitutes acceptance of the updated T&Cs.
16. Consumer Protection Act — Your Rights
16.1 This Programme is subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Nothing in these T&Cs is intended to waive, limit, or override your statutory rights under that Act.
16.2 If you believe your consumer rights have been infringed, you may contact the National Consumer Commission at www.thencc.gov.za or 012 428 7000.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
17.1 These T&Cs are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
17.2 Any unresolved dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
17.3 We encourage you to contact us first at payments@mrmattress.co.za — most concerns can be resolved within 5 business days.
